Month 1: Kick-off Meeting
Activities: This month focuses on the initial setup and planning of the project. Group members and the coach discuss the overall management and preparation of the program, including the dissemination plan, evaluation plan, financials, and the creation of a GANTT chart. The meeting also covers the development of a logo and website, which will feature a discussion forum for questions and guidance. Additionally, questionnaires are created and distributed to key stakeholders, and the location for the Round Table event is determined. The coach provides necessary expertise and guidance throughout these discussions.
Month 2: Online Discussion
Activities: Participants engage in an online discussion to share ideas on climate change and its effects, fostering team bonding and brainstorming individual contributions to the project. Decisions are made regarding the project logo, and the website is prepared. Relevant materials concerning plastic waste and coastal clean-ups in Thessaloniki are gathered and discussed.
Month 3: 1st Webinar on Climate Change and Its Effects
Activities: A webinar is conducted to educate participants on the health impacts of climate change and discuss adaptation and mitigation strategies. This session builds on ideas from the previous online discussion and underscores the importance of actions like coastal clean-ups.
Month 4: 1st Round Table in Thessaloniki (2 days)
Activities: The first day involves presenting and discussing materials on plastic waste and coastal clean-ups in Thessaloniki. The second day focuses on the coach explaining the significance of coastal clean-ups and their benefits to the city.
Month 5: 2nd Webinar Discussion
Activities: Participants discuss the outcomes of the Round Table via a webinar. They prepare and upload reports on proposals, critical issues, and suggestions for improvement.
Month 6: 3rd Webinar on Preparation Process
Activities: This webinar addresses sea litter problems, impacts, and solutions at regional and local levels. Topics include litter collection techniques, safety protocols, appropriate clothing, emergency contacts, and procedures for handling trapped or injured animals. The coach presents the relevant material.
Month 7: 4th Webinar on Safety Measures and Place of Action
Activities: The webinar covers safety protocols and emergency procedures, with the coach providing first aid advice. The location for the upcoming coastal cleanup is decided. The two-day coastal cleanup event is planned, with the first day dedicated to distributing equipment and discussing the plan of action. The actual cleanup takes place on the second day, with participants following safety measures and collecting data and photographic evidence for a portfolio.
Month 8: Coastal Cleanup Event (2 days)
Activities: The first day involves gathering participants, distributing equipment, and planning the cleanup. On the second day, participants execute the cleanup at the chosen location, guided by the coach. They implement safety measures, collect data, and take photographs. Participants receive certifications for their involvement.
Month 9: Evaluation Meeting
Activities: An online meeting is held to evaluate the coastal cleanup event. Participants and the coach analyze the process, identify strengths and weaknesses, and provide feedback to improve future projects.
Month 10: Online Discussion on Preserving Results
Activities: A webinar is conducted to discuss strategies for maintaining the cleanliness of the coast and preserving the results of the cleanup. Participants and the coach brainstorm ideas for ongoing environmental efforts.
Month 11: Reporting Webinar
Activities: Participants report on the project results, gather relevant materials, and review the final report with the coach. Corrections are made before submitting the report to the EU committee and uploading it to the website. Information about the final workshop is disseminated.
Month 12: Final Workshop
Activities: The final workshop involves presenting the project’s results to the local community and raising awareness about climate change. This event aims to inform and inspire youth to take action and disseminate the project’s findings.
